Walk out with a CRM program you can actually put in place.

In two days, you'll build the bowtie analyses, performance standards, and verification framework your site needs — using your own risks, with expert guidance at every step.

Critical Control Performance Standard
Event details: Brisbane CBD location, dates Mon 9 & Tue 10 June 2026, capped at 20 participants, CPD credits for QLD Mining

Most organisations I work with have something called a CRM program. A risk register. Some bowties. Maybe a few performance standards in a folder somewhere.

But when I ask whether those documents would hold up in a regulator visit, an audit, or an investigation after a serious incident — the room goes quiet. Because there's a difference between having CRM documents and having a CRM program that actually works.

The bowties don't connect back to the BBRA. The performance standards are vague. The verification program ticks boxes but doesn't catch real control failures. And the people on the ground — the supervisors, the control owners — couldn't tell you what a critical control actually is, let alone whether it's performing.

That's not a criticism. It's what I see on site after site, across every commodity, every state, every size of operation. And it's fixable — if you know what good looks like and you've got the right tools to build it.

What you'll walk away with after two days
.......
.....
.....
Bowtie analyses you can take back to site

Not a theory lesson on bowties — you'll build them during the course using your own Material Unwanted Events, with expert review and feedback at every stage.
...
Critical Control Performance Standards ready to implement

You'll draft real CCPSs during the workshop — functionality, availability, failure modes, verification activities — using the same template I use with clients like South32, Glencore, and OceanaGold.
...
A verification framework that fits your Safety Management System

Not just "how to verify" in theory. You'll build the verification strategy, define the data sources, and design the field checks so they actually catch control failures rather than just generating paperwork.
.....
QLD Mining CPD credits + catering sorted

The course counts toward your annual CPD requirements. Morning tea and lunch provided both days. Show up — everything else is taken care of.
...
Content aligned to the latest industry guidance

Updated to reflect the February 2026 ICMM Critical Control Management Good Practice Guide and the latest thinking on energy-based safety from Hallowell's research. If your CRM program was built off the original ICMM guidance, there are gaps you'll want to know about.
...
Two full days with a CRM specialist

Not a generalist trainer reading slides. I've reviewed and built CRM programs for 30+ operations across mining, energy, ports, and construction. You'll get direct access to ask questions, pressure-test your thinking, and work through the challenges specific to your site.
...
The complete CRM template pack

BBRA template, bowtie template, CCPS template, verification sheet, quality checklist, and PHMP template. These are the same working tools I use on consulting projects. They're yours to take and use.
...
A Broad Brush Risk Assessment built from your own operation

You'll work through the BBRA methodology using your site's actual hazards and context. Most organisations pay $15,000–$25,000+ to have a consultant do this. You'll learn how to do it yourself.
...
If you hired a consultant to build this program for your site, you'd be looking at $50,000–$100,000+ depending on the number of risks. This masterclass gives you the skills and templates to build it yourself.
...

Is this the right course for you?

...
...

This is for you if:

...
  • You're responsible for CRM at your site and need to build or rebuild the program properly
  • You've inherited a CRM framework that doesn't quite stack up and you're not sure where the gaps are
  • You're a safety professional who wants to add CRM specialisation to your career
  • You need to get your site aligned with the updated ICMM guidance or QLD legislative requirements for critical controls
  • You've been told to "fix the bowties" and you're not sure where to start
  • You want to stop paying consultants to do work your team should be able to do in-house

This probably isn't for you if:

...
  • You're looking for a general safety awareness course — this is technical and practitioner-level
  • You've already got a mature, functioning CRM program and just need an external review (talk to us about a CRM Review instead)
  • You're after a certificate to hang on the wall — this is a working course, not a tick-box exercise
...
...

Don't take my word for it

Before starting Impress Solutions, I worked with BHP, Peabody Energy, PwC, and half a dozen others. I hold a Masters in Ergonomics and a Graduate Certificate in Mineral Resources (Risk Management), both from UQ. Registered Safety Practitioner, ICAM Lead Investigator, and Cert IV in Training and Assessment.

25+ years in health and safety across mining, resources, energy, and construction. I've reviewed and built CRM programs for operations across Australia, Singapore, South Africa, Canada, Chile, and the Philippines.

I built this masterclass because I kept seeing the same problems on site after site — and I wanted to give people the tools to fix them without needing to hire me. Everything I teach in this course is the same approach I use with clients. No theory for theory's sake. Just what works.

FAQs
.....
Can I send someone from my team instead of attending myself?

Yes. The course is designed for anyone responsible for CRM at their site — safety managers, risk leads, control owners, superintendents, advisors. If they'll be building or managing the CRM program, they'll get value from it.

What if we've already got a CRM program in place?

Good. You'll pressure-test it against the latest ICMM guidance and the frameworks I use on client reviews. Most participants who already have a program say that's where they got the most value — seeing what good looks like and identifying where their own system falls short.

Is this only for mining?

The frameworks are industry-agnostic — ICMM, ISO 31000, energy-based safety principles. I've had participants from energy, ports, construction, and oil and gas. The examples lean mining because that's where the deepest maturity sits, but the methodology applies anywhere you're managing critical risks that can kill or seriously injure people.

What's included in the price?

Two full days of facilitated workshop training, the complete CRM template pack (BBRA, bowtie, CCPS, verification sheet, PHMP templates, quality checklist), a participant workbook, morning tea and lunch both days, and QLD Mining CPD credits.

What's the cancellation policy?

If you can't make it, you can transfer your registration to a colleague or a future course at no cost. Just let us know before the event. If you attend and it's not what you expected, I'll refund your registration — full details in the guarantee above.

Will you run this course again?

This is the only open masterclass I have scheduled for 2026. If you can't make June, get in touch and I'll let you know if another date comes up. We also deliver this as a private course for organisations — contact us for details.

How is this different from other CRM training?

Two things. First, you're not sitting in a lecture — you're building real deliverables using your own risks throughout the course. You walk out with work you can actually use. Second, I've updated the content this year to reflect the February 2026 ICMM Good Practice Guide and the energy-based safety research from Hallowell. Most other CRM training is still built off guidance that's nearly a decade old.
